tournament? We still need help, specifically Friday night. Thanks for
your help. Don Parents and Wrestlers: This year Vestavia Wrestling Club

Dear Pizitz Wrestling Families,

Your son has the opportunity to wrestle again in the State Youth    Tournament on February 25-26th.  This tournament is hosted by

the Vestavia Wrestling Club and we would love your help!  We need    people to work the ticket/gate, concession stand, hospitality room 

and tables in the gym.

We are ordering t-shirts for all of our volunteer workers.  The    shirts are royal blue with the Vestavia Wrestling Club logo on them.

we are selling them at cost for $7.  If you think you may be able to    volunteer anytime during the weekend, please go ahead and let 

Allyson McLean know so she can reserve you a shirt.  Even if you end    up not being able to help, you can wear the shirt all year.

If your son is competing or not, he can come help work the    tournament....we need table workers for all 8 mats that we're running.     He can order a shirt too.

Attach is the format we have found useful in high school.  If you  could get the eight grade parents to complete the blank form and email back,  that would be great (they could also fax it to my office to my attention at  802-7854).  The reason we get more information is for carpooling  purposes.  Some of the younger parents 9/10 grade, looks for older  wrestlers to bring their children home after practice and sometime take them to  6:30am practices.  Especially the early morning trips to wrestling  tournaments.  I also make a sheet with only names and phone numbers when  the season first begins to give to the parents for traveling purposes. Once I  get 50% of the children I will start compiling a new form with  2011vhhsinfo.

Vestavia Wrestling Club Information Sheet for Middle School Wrestlers

Parents,

The Middle School and Youth State wrestling tournament is February 25
and 26. The Vestavia Wrestling Club (VWC) is hosting the state
tournament at VHHS. We would encourage everyone to participate in the
state tournament. There will be teams from South Alabama and North
Alabama attending this tournament so there will be new competition in
most weight classes.

This year we are combining both Pizitz and Liberty Park Middle School
teams to compete as one unified Vestavia Wrestling team. This is a
great opportunity to start building a team for future state high school
wrestling team championships.

There is no fee for Pizitz or Liberty Park Middle School wrestlers to
participate with VWC through February 26th except the $35 USA Wrestling
membership. To participate your son will need to get his USA Wrestling
membership and a Trackwrestling number.

With the success that both teams had this year this combined team has
the opportunity to also be State Champions for the Schoolboy division.
There will be a team championship awarded just like the metro
tournament. Please encourage your son to participate.

We start practice this Tuesday from 6:15-7:45 at the Crossroad Church.
Practices will be lead by Christian Staylor. We will have a parent
informational meeting this Tuesday at 6:00 at the Crossroad church to
answer more questions.

Metro South Championship Tournament

Thompson Middle School

This is the final tournament of the season.  It is a double elimination tournament like the Pelham and Vestavia Kickoff Tournaments.  Great news, everyone on our team will be wrestling in this tournament.  Everyone will ride the Bus Friday to Weigh-ins.  The bus leaves at 3:30 from Pizitz.  Weigh-ins are from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.  Wrestling begins at 6:00 PM.  Wrestling should end around 10:00 PM. 

Weigh-ins Saturday are from 7:00 – 8:00 AM.  Everyone should be a Thompson Middle School no later than 7:15 AM to weigh-in.  Wrestling is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM.  Let's finish the season strong!

The Wrestling Team party is Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Moe's Barbecue on Rocky Ridge from 4:45 – 6:00 PM.  For more party info, check with Lisa Townes at lisatownes@charter.net.  Please e-mail her with the number your family will have and if you prefer chicken, beef, pork, or ribs.  Families will be responsible for purchasing own meals.

It is a tradition every year for the boys to dress up for school on
Friday of the Metro South Tourney.
Please have your son wear dress pants and a tie to school on Friday.

We are in the process of creating an end of the year wrestling video.
If you have any good photos or video clips please edit clips to 10
seconds of action and burn the video and photos to a disc. If you could
bring them tomorrow night to VHHS that would be very helpful.

VWC is inviting our middle school wrestlers to come practice and compete
with us at the Folkstyle Youth State Tournament. Middle school
wrestlers are welcome to attend any and all scheduled practices from now
until the Youth State Tournament at no cost. All middle school
wrestlers that are competing with us in the state tournament in February
will need to get a USA Wrestling Card. Both an up to date schedule and

Trussville Throwdown Tournament
January 21 & 22, 2011

This is a dual team tournament like the Metro South Duals.
There are going to be 16 teams, four pools of four each.
Most of the same teams as last week, with other teams also (Helena,
Hayden, Oxford, Moody, and Baylor of Chattanooga).

We will leave Pizitz at 3:30 on Friday afternoon on the Bus. Weigh-ins
will be between 3:30 and 5:00.
Wrestling begins at 5:30 Friday afternoon and will continue until about
10:00.
There is NO WEIGH-IN Saturday morning. Wrestling begins at 8:30 AM on
Saturday.
Wrestling ends Saturday sometime between 4:00 and 5:00.

Parents are responsible for getting your wrestler to Hewitt-Trussville
Middle School Saturday, January 22nd, no later than 7:45 AM.

Metro South Duals Tournamet this weekend at Spain Park High School

This is a two day tournament, Friday, January 14th and Saturday, January
15th. T
he bus will leave Pizitz Friday, January 14th at 3:45.
Parents are responsible for getting your wrestlers to Spain Park High
School on Saturday, January 15th no later than 8:00 AM.

This tournament has the same format as the Homewood Tournament.
We will wrestle in pools on Friday night and then wrestle in a 4 team
bracket on Saturday.

Wrestling starts on Friday at 6:00 PM and at 9:15 AM Saturday. T
he team will wrestle 3 matches on Friday and 2 matches on Saturday.
Wrestling should end about 12:00 PM on Saturday.

IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! WE WILL HAVE PRACTICE MONDAY, JANUARY 17TH
AT PIZITZ FROM 8:00-10:00

Tomorrow's Match 1-5-11

Pizitz wrestles tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 4th, against Thompson.
The match is at VHHS and starts at 5:00. Weigh-in is at 4:00 at the VHHS
wrestling room. Parents are responsible for getting their wrestlers to the High School
by 4:00.
