Vestavia Wrestling Club Information Sheet for Middle School Wrestlers

Parents,

The Middle School and Youth State wrestling tournament is February 25
and 26. The Vestavia Wrestling Club (VWC) is hosting the state
tournament at VHHS. We would encourage everyone to participate in the
state tournament. There will be teams from South Alabama and North
Alabama attending this tournament so there will be new competition in
most weight classes.

This year we are combining both Pizitz and Liberty Park Middle School
teams to compete as one unified Vestavia Wrestling team. This is a
great opportunity to start building a team for future state high school
wrestling team championships.

There is no fee for Pizitz or Liberty Park Middle School wrestlers to
participate with VWC through February 26th except the $35 USA Wrestling
membership. To participate your son will need to get his USA Wrestling
membership and a Trackwrestling number.

With the success that both teams had this year this combined team has
the opportunity to also be State Champions for the Schoolboy division.
There will be a team championship awarded just like the metro
tournament. Please encourage your son to participate.

We start practice this Tuesday from 6:15-7:45 at the Crossroad Church.
Practices will be lead by Christian Staylor. We will have a parent
informational meeting this Tuesday at 6:00 at the Crossroad church to
answer more questions.

Age:

• Born after Aug 15,1995, 1996,1997,1998

Weight Classes: (add 1 pound weight allowance for State)

• 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190,
210, 265

Tournament Dates:

1. Feb 5 Pelham Saturday 8:30-11:00
2. Feb 15 Alabaster Saturday 8:30-11:00
3. Feb 25, 26 State VHHS Friday 6:00 -10:30 and finals on Saturday

Practice Times and Location:

• Tuesday and Wednesday 6:15-7:45 and Sunday 1:30-3:00
• Crossroad Church corner of Highway 31 and Shades Crest Road

• Earlier registration via Trackwrestling.com– Thursday night at
midnight
• Weigh-ins for each tournament are Thursday night from 5:30-7:30 at
Crossroads
